Viscosupplementation therapy has been widely used for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis for more than 20 years and is included in many international and national clinical guidelines and standards for the treatment of this pathology. It would seem that the high state of knowledge and long-standing popularity of the method and chemical properties of the hyaluronic acid should stop the emergence of new forms and products based on it. That is why it is always surprising and interesting to witness technological innovations that give a fresh impetus to development and take an already known treatment method to a new level. For example, the launch of the CHAP technology has enabled the creation of cross-linked bionic hyaluronan, about which application we report for the first time in our first 2020 issue.
